Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs of Mark Mulcahy is a tribute album to former Polaris and Miracle Legion front man Mark Mulcahy released under the Shout! Factory label.

Almost a year after his wife Melissa died suddenly (2008), 21 artists contributed exclusive tracks to the album to help Mulcahy to continue making music while he raises his three-year old twin daughters. Notable contributors include R.E.M. front man Michael Stipe, Radiohead's Thom Yorke and The National. A deluxe edition is also available which includes 20 bonus tracks over two additional bonus CDs.[4]

Boise Cover Band

This might be for you if:
  • you like Beat Happening, Shonen Knife, or the softer side of early Built to Spill.
  • you have ever heard of the band Cub.
  • you like odd covers of David Bowie songs.
  • you're a fan of whatever Doug Martsch does.
  • you like it when things are not obviously ironic nor determinedly sincere
  • you like that Pretenders song "Back on the Chain Gang" enough to like it without lyrics

trivia question that I've never thought of before

Is there any relation between John Updike's novel Rabbit, Run and that part on Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon where they sing "Run, Rabbit Run/Dig that hole/forget the sun..."?
